We are a small, family-run, ARBA-registered closed rabbitry dedicated to thoughtfully raising quality rabbits for loving homes. Maintaining a closed rabbitry is an intentional decision that helps us protect the health, safety, and well-being of our rabbits and our family while providing each bunny with the best possible start.
Before reserving a bunny, please take a few moments to carefully review our Adoption & Sales Policy below.
All reservations and sales are subject to this policy, whether or not it has been read in full. By placing a deposit, reserving, or purchasing a bunny from Springhouse Farm, you acknowledge and agree to the terms outlined below. This policy may be updated as needed.
🐰 A Note for Teddywidder Breeding Homes
If you are considering a Teddywidder for your breeding program, please keep in mind that the Teddywidder is still a breed in development in the United States. (We breed towards a consistent type and pet coloring.) It is currently considered a project breed and is not yet officially recognized in the U.S. There are also two Standards of Perfection (SOPs) currently being developed, so type, characteristics, and breeding goals may vary among different lines and programs.
Each rabbit has its own individual strengths and attributes. With rabbits under six months of age, I cannot guarantee how a bunny will mature or what its final adult (Senior) type will be. I am, however, always happy to provide my evaluation of what I see at the time of placement. The parents can also be a helpful guide when considering potential mature type, wool, size, and other characteristics.
If you are searching for particular traits for your breeding program, please feel free to ask. I’m happy to discuss each bunny with you and help determine which one may best complement your goals.
🐰 Reservations & Deposits
To reserve a bunny, simply message me with the bunny you are interested in and any questions you may have. Once you decide the bunny is the right fit, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve them.
A bunny is not considered reserved until the deposit has been received.
Due to the increase in online scams, I understand that some families prefer PayPal Goods & Services rather than Friends & Family. That is perfectly fine; however, the applicable processing fee must be added to the payment.
Remaining balance is due:

Local pickup: At the time of pickup.

Transport: At 8 weeks of age if a 1-2 day trip. Longer times on Ground Transport will require kit to be 10 weeks of age.
If I send a payment reminder and do not receive a response within 3 days, I will assume you no longer wish to continue with the reservation, and the bunny may be made available to another home.
Deposits are non-refundable unless something unforeseen happens to the bunny while they are still in my care.
For transported rabbits, the balance must be paid in full at least 24 hours before the bunny is placed on transport.

🚐 Transport Options
📍 Local Pickup
For the health and safety of our rabbits and family, Springhouse Farm operates as a closed rabbitry, and we do not offer home or rabbitry visits.
Local pickups are arranged at an agreed-upon public location, typically Walmart in Newport, Tennessee (1075 Cosby Highway).
Please arrive on time for your scheduled pickup. I completely understand that unexpected delays happen—just send me a message if you are running late.
If you need to reschedule, please contact me before your scheduled pickup time. Failure to communicate or appear for a scheduled pickup may result in the bunny being made available again.Depending on distance and availability, I may also be able to provide localized delivery for $1.00 per mile. Please feel free to ask about this option. For local pickups postponed beyond the originally agreed-upon pickup date, boarding is $25 per week, with any portion of a week charged as a full week.
Long-distance transport is arranged at the buyer’s discretion and expense. I am happy to recommend trusted transporters and assist with coordination. I am also open to working with new reputable transporters; however, I reserve the right to decline a transporter if I am not comfortable placing one of my rabbits in their care.
Once a bunny has been transferred to the transporter, responsibility for the bunny transfers from Springhouse Farm, and I cannot be responsible for circumstances that occur during or after transport. Please make sure you are confident in their care while on transport. I can suggest transporters that I have used in the past but please do your own research.
There is no boarding fee when a bunny is waiting until approximately 10–12 weeks of age for scheduled transport. (I prefer bunnies to travel when older so I do not mind holding.)
If transport is delayed beyond three additional weeks, a $25-per-week care and boarding fee may apply depending on if transport is secured. Transporter delays are not a reason I would charge a boarding fee as typically that is out of their control due to weather, etc.
For local pickups postponed beyond the originally agreed-upon pickup date, boarding is $25 per week, with any portion of a week charged as a full week.
🩺 Health
Every bunny leaves Springhouse Farm appearing healthy to the best of my knowledge. For local pickups, we are happy to perform a brief health check together before you take your bunny home.
Once the bunny leaves my care, responsibility for their continued health and care transfers to the buyer.
Rabbits are sensitive animals whose health and development can be influenced by genetics, diet, environment, stress, husbandry, and many other factors. For this reason, I cannot guarantee long-term health, adult weight, show potential, fertility, reproductive ability, production, or temperament.
Springhouse Farm is not responsible for veterinary expenses incurred after placement.
That said, my support does not end when your bunny goes home. I am always happy to answer questions and offer guidance whenever I can.
I also reserve the right to hold a bunny beyond the anticipated go-home date if I believe additional time in my care is in the bunny’s best interest.
💕 Temperament
Our bunnies are handled regularly and are selected from parents with wonderful temperaments. I will always share my observations about an individual bunny’s personality as they grow.
However, temperament can change as rabbits mature and may be influenced by hormones, genetics, handling, environment, and individual experiences. Therefore, a specific adult temperament cannot be guaranteed.
If temperament concerns arise after your bunny goes home, please reach out. I am happy to offer suggestions, and for pet rabbits, spaying or neutering can often be very beneficial.
⚧ Gender
Gender is visually evaluated at birth, again around four weeks of age, and regularly thereafter.
While I am typically very accurate, determining the gender of young rabbits is not infallible, and occasionally a bunny may develop differently than initially expected.
If I discover a gender correction while the bunny is still in my care, I will contact you and offer appropriate options, including a gender-related refund if you no longer wish to proceed.
Once a bunny has left my care, however, refunds are not offered for an incorrect gender determination.
🌾 Feed & Transition
Every bunny goes home with a small supply of their current feed to help make the transition as smooth as possible.
I currently feed Kent Show Hutch Deluxe 17% Protein Rabbit Feed and have been very happy with it for my Teddywidders. It is available through Chewy and select feed stores, including convenient smaller bags in some locations.
If you prefer another quality rabbit pellet, you may gradually transition to a brand such as Oxbow, Small Pet Select, or Sherwood. For wool breeds such as Teddywidders, I generally prefer a quality pellet containing approximately 17–18% protein to support growth and wool production.
Growing kits are offered unlimited pellets and unlimited Timothy hay.
I personally do not recommend alfalfa hay as the primary hay for my young bunnies because I have found that some kits do better digestively without it. If you choose to offer alfalfa, I recommend introducing only a small amount. I also do not routinely recommend alfalfa for adult rabbits due to its higher calcium content.
Quality packaged hay options include Oxbow, Kaytee, and Small Pet Select, with second- or third-cut Timothy hay being nice options for many rabbits.

🤍 Environment & Transition
Our bunnies are raised in a climate-controlled environment. Please use care when transitioning your bunny to a significantly warmer or colder environment, and make environmental changes gradually whenever possible.
I also strongly encourage new families to familiarize themselves with the 3-3-3 Rule. Giving your bunny appropriate time and space to decompress, adjust, and build trust during those first days and weeks can make a wonderful difference in developing your relationship.

Once a Springhouse Farm bunny, always a Springhouse Farm bunny.
If circumstances ever change and you are unable to continue caring for a bunny adopted from me, please reach out.
Whenever possible, I will take the bunny back—no questions asked—or assist with finding an appropriate new home. My priority will always be ensuring that a bunny bred and raised here continues to be safe, loved, and properly cared for throughout their life.

Your deposit confirms that you have read, understand, and agree to the Springhouse Farm Adoption & Sales Policy in its entirety.
I reserve the right to decline a sale or return a deposit at my discretion if I believe a particular placement is not in the best interest of the bunny.
